Writing talents, organizational geniuses and creative minds wanted: For the 2025 festival season, we have four open positions in three areas open positions in three areas: for young professionals and students.

Big ideas for the big stage: For the third edition of »Generation Zukunft Musik«  young people from Ludwigsburg and Markgröningen 2024 created an exciting concert in the Forum am Schlosspark.

To bid farewell to our artistic director Jochen Sandig and our managing director Gabriele Zerweck, our musical guest will turn the marketplace to a dancefloor again: Look forward to a special edition of our »Frei Luft Musik« on September 20 with our special guests Shantel & Bucovina Club!

Our annual trip to picturesque Wolfegg in the Allgäu region has tradition. This year, we will once again spend a weekend here in September.  Join us for rousing orchestral sounds with accordion accordion, a matinee with Bach’s cello suites, and heavenly a cappella concert.

Fazıl Say kicked off his residency at the Ludwigsburg Festival with the European premiere of his song cycle »Dünya Anne« (World Mother) and a late-night piano recital. Listen to both concerts (again) on SWR Kultur.

The first joint concert: On July 13, the two ensembles VOCES8 and Chanticleer met for a cappella summit meeting at the Ludwigsburg Festival. You can watch the concert on Deutschlandfunk Kultur , recorded in the sold-out Friedenskirche now (once again)!

On July 20, the meadow in front of the lake castle was filled with picnic blankets, folding chairs, culinary delicacies and, of course, our festival guests – we were once again delighted with your once again delighted with your arrangements and the great atmosphere!

The ticket office at Palais Grävenitz is closed during August. From September 2, our team will be on-site again, as usual from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Numerous artistic highlights, beaming faces and lots of positive feedback from our audience – eight intensive festival weeks with a total of 45 productions and 54 events lie behind us! This week we are ending our 2024 festival season with a big fireworks display: the open air at Seeschloss Monrepos is coming up! In a summery, relaxed atmosphere and beautiful setting, we will experience refined rhythms, captivating highlights and soulful moments of tranquillity, which will ultimately culminate in a breathtaking fireworks display. So that it’s not so hard to say goodbye, this year we have a festival pilogue in which students from the Film Academy and ADK invite you to take a nocturnal walk in the Salonwald – let us surprise you!

What is the best way to get there? When are the fireworks and what can I I pack in my picnic basket? In our FAQs you will find answers to (almost) all questions about the »Monrepos Open Air«.

Use our free shuttle bus to get to the concert: On July 15, our bus shuttle will take you from Untertürkheim station (Gate 4) to the station »Rotenberger Weingärtle«. From there, smaller shuttle buses will take you to the next station, before you reach the chapel after a 200 meter walk. There is no parking available at the chapel!

With the «Danzón No. 2«, the festival orchestra under the direction of Alondra de la Parra will captivate the audience at the open-air concert! The video with the »Impossible Orchestra« puts us in the mood for the grand finale of the Ludwigsburg Festival on July 20!

In this penultimate week of the festival, we are pulling out all the stops once again: after a final concert in the Ordenssaal with actress Martina Gedeck and star harpist Xavier de Maistre, the VOCES8 artist residency begins this weekend! At »Voces8 Meets Chanticleer« is a summit meeting of a cappella singing of a cappella singing with the US colleagues from Chanticleer in the Friedenkirche. We are also looking forward to the project »VOCES8 Sing Along« on Sunday - starting at 3 pm so as not to clash with the final match of the European Football Championship. On Monday evening, we will celebrate the end of the artist residency with the »VOCES8 Evening Song« and ring in the last week of the festival with an open-air evening at the Grabkapelle Stuttgart in a relaxed, summery atmosphere.

As public viewings are taking place around the market square this Friday and we want to listen to the virtuoso sounds of the four-piece string ensemble »Quelle SURprise« undisturbed, we are moving our »Frei Luft Musik« this Friday, July 5, to the Evangelische Stadtkirche Ludwigsburg, directly on the market square!

Our »Frei Luft Musik« has found a new venue: To prevent the BarockLauf from becoming an obstacle course, we are moving our weekly small open-air concert to the ADK courtyard on Friday, July 12th.

The sixth week of the festival is all about dance: we welcome the Akram Khan Company to Ludwigsburg and let ourselves be carried away by the multimedia dance theater retelling of the »Jungle Book«! We won’t be able to sit still for long at the concert, which has been moved to the Stiftskirche Wertheim due to the weather, when David Orlowsky & Friends provide a good mood with chamber music and jazz. Also relocated and due to the EM-Public-Viewings in the Marktplatz-Gastronomie in the Ev. Stadtkirche Ludwigsburg: the Frei Luft Musik with the string ensemble Quelle SURprise.

We will be guests at the Alte Kelter in Bietigheim, where the SIGNUM saxophone quartet will be playing their own arrangements of classical works. And, of course, another musical gem shines in our series of Ordenssaal concerts when Alexandre Kantorow plays romantic rhapsodies, character pieces and sonatas in his piano recital.

The fifth festival week has begun! The Mahler Chamber Orchestra concludes its artist residency with the question «How does home sound?«, we accompany Anastasia Kobekina and the Basel Chamber Orchestra on their trip to Venice, and Asmik Grigorian performs a song recital. Also: the «Johannespassion« in Haigerloch and the premiere of «Die schöne Müllerin«, a co-production with the Stuttgart State Opera!

We are celebrating the anniversary of 50 years of hip-hop culture with old-school raps through to laid-back party grooves entirely on vinyl records. Find the line-up here:

This week’s guests at the Schlossfestspiele: Violinist Renaud Capuçon with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Pianist Michael Wollny, who takes a »Blick nach Innen« with his art between jazz and classical music. The Minguet Quartett brings together Franz Schubert’s String Quintet in C major with the Finnish contemporary composer Kalevi Aho.In addition, children will demonstrate the musical possibilities of minimal music with their own compositions and in the workshops on »In C«, you can dance under the guidance of dancers from the Sasha Waltz & Guests company!

In the third week of the festival, the Schlossfestspiele live up to their name: we are very much looking forward to the first two events with the French string quartet Quatuor Ébène and the Rothko String Quartet at the Residenschloss Ludwigsburg! New to the program is the »Scala Festspiel Kino« series, which also starts this week with the film »Human Requiem«. In »Generation Zukunft Musik«, schoolchildren from Ludwigsburg and the surrounding area will once again put on a colorful event at the Forum am Schlosspark with their own concerts and innovative music formats.

The festival week concludes with the big anniversary »50 Jahre Hip-Hop« in the open air at the Kunstzentrum Karlskaserne.

And, of course, the popular »Frei Luft Musik« will be back again this week, this time Kids of Adelaide will be playing indie, folk and rock sounds.

We are offering free workshops with dancers from Sasha Waltz & Guests on June 21, 22, and 23 in Ludwigsburg for all dance enthusiasts aged 12 and over. Over the course of three hours, you will gain basic insights into the choreography «In C« and are invited to get to know and try out the concept and the various movements in a playful way. The dancer and dance teacher Janna Kleinknecht gives an insight into the workshop offer in the video.

After a successful opening concert, the second week of the festival offers some of the major Festival highlights in quick succession! Sasha Waltz & Guests present »Beethoven 7«, a choreography choreography on Beethoven’s symphony – preceded by a choreography for the commissioned work «Freiheit/Extasis« by Diego Noguera: electronic music performed live music that refers to Beethoven and his theme of freedom. We are also delighted to be hosting Fazıl Say as part of his artist residency at the Ludwigsburg Schlossfestspiele three times in concert this week! On Sunday, you can then experience Scandinavian classical music stars in Ludwigsburg or the Wildstrings in Bad Imnau.

Due to the weather, we are moving the «Frei Luft Musik« with Anna Stucky today, May 31, to the Evangelical City Church Ludwigsburg directly on the market square.

Enjoy an exquisite festive menu to match the VOCES8 concert experience at the Grabkapelle. Against an impressive backdrop, the singers of the a cappella ensemble will perform an atmospheric concert on July 15 in an extraordinary atmosphere. To make this special listening experience perfect from a culinary point of view, Bistro 1819 am Wirtemberg will be open for you that evening.

The Supervisory Board of the Ludwigsburg Schlossfestspiele elected a new artistic director at its meeting on March 6. In future Lucas Reuter will take over responsibility. The 40-year-old has been artistic director of the artistic season at the Forum am Schlosspark Ludwigsburg, which he will continue to be responsible for the time being.

The Tanztheater Wuppertal invites you to the public dress rehearsal of Pina Bausch’s »Vollmond«! The two performances at the Ludwigsburg Schlossfestspiele were sold out so quickly that we are now opening the final rehearsal on June 8 at 8 pm for you.

What is worth preserving? What is forward-looking and what should Ludwigsburg take with it into its future? With these questions, artists Thomas Rustemeyer, Bruno Jacoby and Julian Warner invite Ludwigsburg residents to collect objects, ideas, melodies or anecdotes for a »memory of the future« as part of the ÜBER:MORGEN festival. In the course of the exhibition, the urban society fills the memory with personal answers to questions about the future and creates a communal and walk-in show depot

The Belarusian activists Maria Kalesnikava, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya and Veronika Zepkala have been awarded this year’s International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen for their services to the unity of Europe. In her speech, Federal Foreign Minister Baerbock referred to the laureates as «the most courageous women in Europe«. As the «Festival of the Arts, Democracy and Sustainability« we are very happy about this news and welcome this important sign for freedom and democracy.

In early May, Oksana Lyniv opened the 2021 season with the festival orchestra, and now the conductor, who was the first woman to take the podium at the Bayreuth Festival in the summer of 2021, will become music director of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna in January 2022.

Over the course of a month, nine young people between the ages of 20 and 30 came together for six online workshops lasting several hours and dealt intensively with diverse gender identities and perceptions through writing tasks, movement sequences and free exchange. A filmic insight into the work can be seen on the Digital Stage.

In the film »Saz - The Key of Trust«, the instrumentalist Petra Nachtmanova follows the traces of the saz. Hardly represented in books, the history of this Persian or Ottoman-Turkish instrument is a mystery. At the »Saz Musik Fest« on 18 June, she will present her journey from Bosnia to Iran, recorded on film, and will play songs from there together with guests.

In a new scenic film project, the »Human Requiem« becomes an examination of the current consequences of Corona. Directed by Jochen Sandig and musically conducted by Gijs Leenaars, the Rundfunkchor Berlin offers hope and comfort in difficult times with Brahms' »Ein deutsches Requiem«. 

The founder of contemporary »African Dance« has been committed for decades to the deepening and spreading of African Dance. Since the 1960s, Germaine Acogny has been realizing and manifesting her vision, enriching the african - and eventually the international - dance world as a dancer, teacher and mentor. The Biennale Danza Festival now honours her life's work with the Golden Lion. In anticipation of this year's »Sacre« project, we congratulate her!

With »I can't breathe«, the dancer touched not only the visitors of the Ludwigsburg Festival. His renewed performance at the Romaeuropa Festival in September also convinced the jury of the Italian Danza&Danza Awards. We congratulate Edivaldo Ernesto for the award as best dancer 2020!

The 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were also launched by former German President Horst Köhler, among others. Since the 2020 season, he and his wife Eva Luise Köhler are the patrons of the Ludwigsburg Festival. Horst Köhler has shared his thoughts on this in a foreword.
