On May 20 and 21, Israel Galván brings flamenco to the Ludwigsburg Schlossfestspiele. Igor Stravinsky’s music for »Le Sacre du Printemps « acts as a stimulus that must be followed by a direct reaction. Like no other composition, this key work of (dance) modernism has spawned hundreds of interpretations worldwide. Flamenco innovator Israel Galván uncovers the multi-layered rhythms by becoming a percussive instrument himself.

In addition to the ambitious version for two pianos, which Stravinsky presented in close quarters just days before the premiere, flamenco is also given a new guise in works by Domenico Scarlatti and Frederic Rzewski.
